Some days you just can't get it into second even if you double clutch it, translation? Sometimes your just screwed. Here's the deal, and yes it was a big deal, at least to a military retiree. Two weeks ago the 30th of October 2015, I'm all filled with anticipation of being reunited with my beloved LexiBelle (my tow truck) so going to Twin Falls Idaho, via I-80 through Morgan Utah. Just as I come off the Echo Utah, cut off, saw a plewm of white smoke out the tail pipe, followed by a climbing temp guage followed by the car giving it up just outside of the shop service door at Youngs in Morgan. So after 2-1/2 hours or so the verdict came in , blown heater hose. They didn't have the part, had to order it. Really? This is supposed to be a full service shop. Any mile ultimately they rent my a new Dodge Journey, to go home. I kinda liked the unit, so was giving thought at looking into buying the rental, until I went to pick up MY car. So drove the car home, it had some reluctance, but got me home. Shut it off, did my gig at MY shop, and went to go home. As I was coming off Bear River Drive to go over the overpass to come home, the car barely got over the overpass, when the Check Engine light comes on. So turned around, went back to my shop. Both me and my partner at the shop, looked at it, took it to a competitors shop had them run a diagnostic scan, all it said was a bad 02 and map censor. However there and maybe its not gone, but it sure acts like it has a very bad head gasket. Which might have been why the heater hose blew in the first place. Did Youngs check for that? No. Although the power steering hose is bad and had a recall on that year of car (1997) to 2003 still I know what that's all about, but the old General should not be running so rough. So I sent them two email letters asking for my money back less the cost of the rental. Still no response. However I do have an attorney there in Layton, who also has an office in Morgan Utah looking into it. As we get into Veterans Day, remember , Vets have little to mediocure money as it is. The sacrifice we gave to serve this nation is huge, when you do service or any work that , that Vet has to pay for, remember he or she might be taking away from his rent on his home or food out of his mouth. Moreover If your a auto shop, and you screw up, be honest, try to work it out and if you can't at least refund your labor charges, to that Veteran customer.
Stay Tuned ,. But know this, if I was one who was entertaining selling someone not only one Journey, but three ton and a half commercial trucks, and I had a dissatisfied customer. I'd be for refunding the money or having a rental up here at my cost, and a tow truck to take it back to my shop, to rectify the problem. Stay tuned.
