Well got the General JaXson home today, but still have a performance issue. Might be Young's Dodge in Morgan Utah's fault, might be I knocked something loose enroute home or even here when I arrived. So will start the process of diagnostic investigation, taking out everything I know to be the problem, then replacing that, and going from there.
This is not the first time I have ran into this problem, take something in that runs okay to get repaired and it comes out worse than it went in. Might have nailed a head gasket, when he got too hot under the hat or might be something else.
The first time I ran into this was back in 1983 took the old General Lee in for a front end alignment, to what was Big O, in Twin Falls Idaho, pretty bad when the car will hold the road at 160, when I took it in, but couldn't hold the road, even using all 4 lanes of US-30 coming out at 40MPH. Same goes for the Major. (The Subaru), take it in to get a simple replacement of a few parts, but it comes out and only in a few months, the radio wont work, the idiots at First Stop Auto in Layton Utah, used a set of V-belts instead of the serpintine belt that was supposed to go on there, that bent the crank shaft that means a replacement engine.
The basic thing is, this is why I rent a shop in partnership with my dear friend Rick, so I can fix my own rides as most of these so called techs, that are certified and supposedly trained, really don't know much more than text books. These are not Automotive Technicians or mechanics, these kinds of people are parts reassemblers. There's too much hurry to get it out the door and get paid. There's no pride any more of doing the job completely, so the customer is satisfied, and the mechanic can put his name on it and be happy when it goes down the road with pride and say I fixed that. It's the same with over the road truckers, any more. Teens to mid 20's youth go into schools get a CDL, go out on the road, but have no idea how to really drive a truck, much less have pride in being safe and delivering a load without damage, nope its get it there get it offloaded and collect money. Forget the damn money, do it for the purity of the vocation. Same goes for many in toewing. Many start at 18 some at 21 years old, they learn basics, use wheel-lifts, and carriers, but could not use an old fashion sling if their lives depended on it. To me these are just wheel holders or tow jocky's not trained and experienced disabled vehicle rescue technicians. Too bad but that's what's happening in our industries and our nation. Thing is we may cuss some ethnic minorities, Blacks, Orientals, Mexican's and so on, but these people work extremely hard and get great grades in schools when and where they can. Especially Orientals. Was reading an article just a few ago, about a teen who is a staff member at NASA. Of course guess what? Yep he is Oriental. We cuss the far East , in taking American jobs and all and I'm one that says THEY MUST SPEAK and WRITE, and READ, ENGLISH before entering this nation. But I also see something else, Orientals, also study their bunns off, in schools, and advance. Far East productivity exceeds anything in this nation. You don't see Japan, China, Korea, taking as many paid vacation, not working days as we American's do. Oh I can see Christmas, New Years, Easter, and Thanksgiving, but we have more reasons to take holiday weekends and either a Monday or Friday off than any other nation except maybe France who does 4 day work weeks. But even the French do a long days work. People bitch about closing the borders of Mexico, that Latino workers steal jobs and benefits. But when was the last time you saw a white male youth or adult, get off their butts, go work at a dairy milking cows , shoveling manure? Or moving hand line sprinkler pipe? Or even picking rock, out of a field so it can be plowed and all to plant a crop? When was the last time, you saw a white teen any gender, bust their ass doing any manual labor? Picking fruit off of a tree for harvest, or heaving bales of hay on a hay wagon? If we're to close our doors in this nation to Mexico, and immigrant labor, we better get our kids and the rest of us, out doing real labor, not just being on Facebook.
As for The General JaXson, if after enough tweaking I can't figure out what's wrong with it, it'll go to the junk, get what I can out of the car, put it into the Subaru, and go that way. Any mile I'm too pooped to do radio overnight, but I'll be in your ears tonight into Wednesday for sure. Be sure to tune in: At; www.livestream.com/kkodfm Until then keep your wings level.
